Following a recent assessment in English, Alfie Fox thought carefully about how to use ReAct to improve the quality of students’ writing. Faced with a picture stimuli and a set of descriptive writing techniques, students were asked to write a one sentence simile, a one sentence metaphor and so on. They then chose the sentence they were happiest with to contribute to the class collaborative writing. Each sentence was typed with students and teacher working together to shape the writing. The end result was a piece of descriptive writing the whole class had contributed to, that could be used as a model for future writing, and was something they could all be proud of.
