I was recently on a learning walk and spotted a brilliant idea in History. Every KS3 student is given a “programme of study” to stick in their exercise books. It gives them information on exactly what topics they will be studying and when, for the whole of KS3. I’ve lost track of the number of times students have asked me what they are learning about next. Giving it to them at the beginning of the year would almost certainly help build student confidence, as they can look ahead and even choose to start reading ahead. It could also be used as a tool for stretch and challenge as students could read around the topic ahead of time or engage in the “Super curriculum” we have at Sandringham. All in all, a great idea that I would like to steal for my subject! Thanks History.
